What is a Monologue?
A monologue can be different things, A monologue is a speech by one actor in a play or a film or in general is a speech from one person to another in conversation. A monologue can be a soliloquy which is an act of speaking ones thought loud by oneself or of any actor. A Soliloquy is a actor speaking a speech to himself or to the audience whereas a monologue is a actor speaking a speech to other character.
Monologues serves a specific purpose in storytelling usually is to give the audience more details about a character or about the plot of a play. Some times a monologue is a natural speech to share internal thoughts or a backstory of a character to give more specific details about the plot.
Monologues are very effective because without it you will just be miming a play with a monologue it can also be used to share feelings including anxiety or plans, A monologue is the one and only thing you need to communicate and that can be accomplished through speech.
