 Set Design

A Set Design is very important, Mainly because it helps convey the setting and is a set that helps show the audience where and when a story of a play takes place.

For Example a Set design will show the audience a specific things and it could be a room or a house this also creates an atmosphere. 

A different example is a play set is in a barn in 1950s  

A set Design can show stuff to the audience including themes and symbols, an example could be a dark gloomy place with a cemetery this could suggest the theme of death.

A set Designer will make sure a play that is naturalistic, they would create the impression of reality through props that are realistic as possible. If is a minimalistic style a set designer would just use simple props to represent a setting.

Colour is very important because without colour it could make a play boring and the atmosphere wouldn't be as strong as with colour, Like adding colour will be existing to watch then a play with no colour and it could be boring to watch (Depending on the play).

a Set designer can make a play show its condition such as using a old ripped chairs and this could suggest that is very old or the character that lives there is poor.

Who do they Work with?

A set designer works with directors and producers 

Why work with Directors?

A Director is someone that directs a play, so because that's a directors job they also have to schedule a meeting with set designers to talk about the interpretation of the play, without a director a set designer cant do what a set designer does to complete its part of the play

Why work with Producers?

A production designers job is to make sure with the directors to create a unified look and feel for the play, They're responsible for bringing the directors ideas to life by coordinating an overall visual appearance and artistic style through out the production

They make sure they work with set designers to also match the set with the play.

How much they get paid?

A starting salary is between £15,000 to £20,000 a year but this depends
